Disaster preparedness awareness camp held

Bishnupur, August 19 2025: A community awareness programme on disaster preparedness and resilience was jointly organised by 12 "O" Team Imphal of the 12th Battalion NDRF and Integrated Social & Cultural Organisation (ISCO), Moirang Panshang Leikai, at the Khoyol Keithel relief camp, Moirang Lamkhai, on Tuesday.

The programme, led by Inspector/GD N Achouba of the 12 "O" Team Imphal, was aimed at acquainting the community on various types of disasters, associated risks, and appropriate measures to be taken before, during, and after such events.

Participants were trained in life-saving techniques including first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), improvised splinting, fire safety, and responses to snake bites, dog bites, drowning, choking, and breathing difficulties.

Demonstrations also covered stretcher-making, rescue operations, and evacuation procedures, with practical exercises conducted on-site.

The NDRF informed that similar awareness and demonstration programmes would be organised in different parts of the state in the coming days.
