Microlight Flight Simulator commissioned at NCC

Imphal, July 16 2025:
A Microlight Simulator (SW-80 Virus) was inaugurated on Wednesday at the No 1 (Manipur) Air Squadron (Flying), NCC Air Wing Unit, located in DM University campus.
The simulator was installed by Aer X Simulator Labs, Bengaluru.
During the inauguration, Commanding Officer of NCC Imphal Air Wing, squadron leader M Sandip Singh, demonstrated the functioning of the simulator and explained its usage to the cadets present.
Addressing the gathering, NCC Imphal Group Command er Brigadier Vikrant Kulkarni, highlighted that there are around 7,000 NCC cadets in Manipur who are actively and efficiently contributing to various state-level initiatives.
He added that many NCC cadets from the state have gone on to join the three branches of the armed forces as well as various civil services at both the state and national levels.
Brigadier Kulkarni further informed that two aircraft have been stationed at Imphal Airport specifically for the training of Air Wing cadets in Manipur.
Before undertaking training flights in the actual aircraft, cadets will undergo preliminary training using the newly installed simulator, which is expected to significantly enhance their flying standards.
The simulator will be fully operational and training sessions will commence shortly, he added.
The function was attended by Education secretary N Praveen, Imphal West DC M Rajkumar, Imphal West SP Ksh Shivakanta, Education director Ng Bhogendra Meitei, Imphal East DC Dr Nivedita Lairenlakpam and Imphal International Airport deputy DGM Shyam Kamei.
