Two held with 2 kg heroin

Imphal, July 10 2025:
A combined team of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Noney district police apprehended two persons and recovered suspected brown sugar/heroin, reportedly smuggled into the state from Myanmar through Churachandpur district.
According to a police report, acting on a tip off, the joint team intercepted a red-coloured car along the NH-37 at Tupul Bridge in Noney district, as the vehicle was heading towards Kangpokpi from Churachandpur district.
During search of the car, the team found 196 soap cases containing suspected heroin/brown sugar, weighing 2.193 kg.
Two persons identified as Ginminlen Ha-okip (24) of G Phaibung village in Kangpokpi district, and Holminlen Khongsai (30) from Khangbarol village in Chandel district, travelling in the car have been detained for investigation into origin and destination of the contraband, said the police report.
The arrestees, narcotics, and the impounded vehicle have been handed over to the Noney police station for further proceedings under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, as amended by the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023 .
