Health talk marks Breastfeeding Week observance

The Department of Community Medicine, Shija Academy of Health Sciences (SAHS), Langol, organised a Health Talk Programme on Wednesday to mark World Breastfeeding Week 2025, under the global theme "Prioritise Breastfeeding: Create Sustainable Support Systems" at the community hall of Wangdei Meitei Leikai, Langol, here.
A Shija Hospitals & Research Institute release informed that as part of the Family Adoption Programme (FAP) initiative under the National Medical Commission (NMC), was conducted by MBBS Phase II, Part I students (2022- 23 Batch) currently posted in the Department of Community Medicine, in collaboration with the Wangdei Meitei Leikai Women Welfare Association (WMLWWA) .
The programme witnessed the participation of approximately 50 women from the local community.
Under the supervision of the faculty of Department of Community Medicine, the students delivered a structured health talk with pictorial presentations highlighting the importance of breastfeeding.
The session was followed by an interactive discussion led by Community Medicine, SAHS department head and associate professor Dr Soram Gautam, the release said.
Informing that participants appreciated the efforts of SAHS in organising the awareness programme, the release added that WMLWWA secretary Gotimayum Memma expressed strong interest in conducting similar sessions in the future to continue community engagement on key health topics.
