Roshan Maah observance begins for Bishnupur

Bishnupur deputy commissioner (DC) Lourembam Bikram on Monday launched Poshan Maah, 2024 under Poshan Abhiyan, PM's Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nourishment, for the district at the conference hall of the DC's Office.
In his address, DC Bikram said that the month long observance (September 1 to 30) of Poshan Maah held nationwide is aimed at mitigating malnutrition in children below six years of age, adolescent girls, pregnant women, and lactating mothers.
Anaemia, growth monitoring, and complementary feeding are among the focussed themes of 7th Rashtriya Poshan Maah, 2024, he added.
The DC highlighted the programme's significance, stating that ensuring good health of mothers and children is fundamental to building a healthy India.
Stating that the ministry concerned diligently monitors activities of all the states with regard to the programme, he also informed that the Poshan tracker is crucial in this process as it provides real-time data online and reflects performance of every Anganwadi worker in the district, allowing the ministry to access and review the effectiveness of their efforts.
While urging departments concerned to collaborate and implement the programme at the grassroots level, he also rooted for maximising awareness on the programme to ensure successful execution.
Organised by the Bishnupur district administration in collaboration with ICDS Cell, Bishnupur, the launch programme was also attended by Bishnupur ADM H Bobby Sharma, chief medical officer Dr L Raichandra, District ICDS Cell programme officer H Mitabina Devi and officials concerned.
A Poshan Rally was flagged off by the DC from the Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur was participated by Anganwadi supervisors and helpers of the district.
