Ukhrul DC bungalow wall collapses

Ukhrul, May 29 2025: Amid the incessant rain lashing the district since the past few days, the newly constructed retaining wall of the official quarters/bungalow of the Ukhrul deputy commissioner, located at Tangrei in Ukhrul town, collapsed in the early hours of Thursday.

A major portion of the decorated concrete retaining wall, spartning around 25-30 metres, collapsed around 5 am, according to sources.

Later, officials from the district administration reportedly arrived to inspect the affected site and deployed an earth excavator to clear the debris from the road to facilitate traffic movement.

It is also learnt that DC Ashish Das is currently on leave.
