Imphal, May 24 2025: Religious leader Shankaracharya Swami Amritananda Devtirth Maharaj of Shrimad Sharda Sarvagya Pitham, Jammu and Kashmir, arrived in Imphal on a four-day tour on Saturday with the objective to promote peace and development in the state.

Upon his arrival at Imphal International Airport, the Hindu pontiff was given a warm welcome by KRC Foundation and Barak-Manipur Friendship Association members along with others led by Meitei Lipun leader Mayengbam Pramot.

As part of his tour, he will attend the Sanatan Sammelan 2025 to be held at Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS), Palace Compound on Sunday.

During his visit, he will hold talks with members of a 'Think Tank', and visit the INA Memorial and relief camps.

Speaking to media persons in connection with his visit, Swami Amritananda informed that he is touring the state with the objective of spreading the message of peace and communal harmony.

Mentioning that President's Rule has been imposed in Manipur by the government to control the ongoing turmoil and restore peace and normalcy in the state, he expressed hope that the people's government will once again be formed in the state as soon as normalcy is restored.
