The state government should stop waiting for the court to issue orders for doing the needful for welfare of the home guards, said Manipur Home Guard Employees' Welfare-Association president Y Mangi.
Addressing the media at its Luwangsangbam office on Sunday, Mangi said that the Association had been urging the state government for establishing a efferent commandant general for home guards, in addition to addressing other issues including welfare programmes, forming a committee to streamline records, seniority list and promotion pf home guards.
In response, the state government formed a six-member committee comprising the state's home commissioner on December 6, 2016.However, the Committee is yet to function despite repeated reminders.
As such, a case was filed at the Manipur High Court, which gave an order on the same on September 19 this year directing for appointment of chairman and members of the Committee within three months.
It also directed the government to notify the seniority list with rankings within six months, he said.
