BJP Ukhrul celebrates Intl Yoga Day

Ukhrul, June 21 2025: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Ukhrul District, under what they described as the visionary guidance of PM Narendra Modi, celebrated International Yoga Day themed "Yoga for One Earth, One Health," at Phungrei Turf Ground, Vashimtang, Hungpung on Saturday.

Attending the celebration, Ukhrul DC Ashish Das praised the BJP Ukhrul District for organising the event with enthusiasm.

He also shared his commitment to working for the welfare of the community during his time in Ukhrul, prioritising peace and development.

BJP Manipur Pradesh spokesperson MK Preshow Shimray stressed'the unifying power of yoga and its role in fostering harmony between people and the planet, stating that this year's theme highlighted that a healthy planet begins with healthy beings.

"We should all take responsibility to promote good health and a sound mind, while also nurturing, protecting and saving our environment," he exhorted.

BJP Ukhrul District general secretary and District Level Committee program convenor Peacemoon Zimik said that the celebration brought together leaders and karyakartas (party workers) from different villages and walks of life.

"It's a pleasure to meet our old and new friends and encourage each other for a healthy lifestyle, he remarked.

Among the attendees included former professional footballer and former MLA candidate Somatai Shaiza, ex-ADC chairman Mark Lu-ithing, ex-councillor Patrick, and ex-ADC member Ngaranchui Rs.Senior BJP leaders and member's of the youth wing, Mahila wing (women's wing), Kisan Morcha (farmer's wing), and Scheduled Tribes (ST) Morcha were also present.

The yoga session was led by Miss Ninghorpem HA, a qualified instructor with a Master's degree in Yoga Sciences from Manipur University.

Following the yoga session, fruit-bearing trees were planted at the Phungrei Turf Ground.

Somatai Shaiza called for making Ukhrul a green, sustainable and economical district.

BJP district spokespersons Achui Shatshang and Raising AC, added, "Let's build a good healthy lifestyle and let's save the mother earth".

The event was organised jointly by members of the Chingai, Ukhrul, and Phungyar Mandals (local units) in collaboration with the BJP Ukhrul District.
