Training programme for food handlers, college teachers conducted

Food and Safety Administration, Chandel organised a food safety training and certification programme for food handlers, at the conference hall of deputy commissioner Chandel district on Thursday.
The programme wps organised by FSSAI-empanelled training partners and attended by the designated officer, food safety officers, food caterers and food manufacturers based in Chandel.
During the programme, topics such as standard hygiene and sanitary practice, and food safety regulations were explained.
Later, after carrying out a finest assessment as per FSSAI guidelines, certificates were distributed to the participants.
Meanwhile, a 10-day Summer School for College Teachers on Biological Tools and Techniques Based on NEP 2020 Syllabi jointly organised by Manipur University Department of Life Sciences (Botany & Zoology) and DBT-Builder from May 5 at the Department of Life Sciences Annexe Building concluded on Thursday.
In a release, Department of Life Sciences (Botany) professor Y Tunginba Singh informed that the closing function was attended by MU vice-chancellor professor N Lokendro Singh, Department of Zoology head professor T Binoy Singh, DBT-Builder coordinator professor GA Shantibala Devi and EMRC director & Department of Botany HoD professor Kananbala Sarangthem as presidium members.
As a part of the programme, experts namely, IIT, Guwahati professor Lingaraj Sahoo; CSIR-NEIST chief scientist Dr H Birkumar; IBSD scientist-E Dr S Indira; MU professor Y Tunginba Singh; DBT-Ramalingaswami Fellow Dr Y Thangal; and project-scientist Dr N Shanta imparted training to the participants and delivered lectures on relevant topics.
The release further stated that on the last day, 25 teacher participants of various colleges of Manipur were presented certificates.
The training was organised with an aim to familiarise college faculties on biological tools and techniques included in the theory and practical syllabus of Botany and Zoology based on the NEP 2020 .
