Briefing the media at its Kwakeithel office on Thursday, secretary Sanjay Kshetrimayum said MDA in collaboration with Senapati Truck Owners' Association, Senapati District Truck Drivers' Union, Manipur Gorkha Motor Workers' Union and the local MLA has been periodically carrying out repair work of the bypass to facilitate undisrupted movement of goods carriers.

He continued that the 27-km long bypass from Kedima to Mao is now in poor shape due to heavy rainfall over the past few days.
As the landslide-affected are is fraught with risk, MDA and like-minded unions decided to suspend movement along the route, he said.
The secretary also informed that repair work is underway since Wednesday and appealed to all vehicles not to overload goods, which would in turn worsen condition of the road.
