Imphal, July 13 2024:
The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India would be organising a global summit for the media and entertainment industry collectively known as The World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES), specifically focusing on the Indian media and entertainment Industry, in Goa from November 20 to 24, along with the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) .
WAVES would bring the Indian Media & Entertainment (M&E) leaders from across the globe on to one platform to discuss the issues, mechanisms and create frameworks for enhancing opportunities.
The summit would include roundtable discussions among countries, cross-cultural content promotion, boost the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics (AVGC) industry, promote Indian IPs, enhance business opportunities for global and Indian players, showcase Indian talent pool, and poise M&E as a means to generate employment in a sustainable media ecosystem.
It may be mentioned that M&E industry is one of the fastest growing sectors of the country's economy, with the second-largest online market in the world.
Driven by rising-incomes, the increasing availability of fast internet and low data rates, large smart phone penetration, growing consumer demand and advertising revenues, the sector is expected to reach an immense value which will play a major role in boosting India's economy.
Therefore, hosting a global media and entertainment summit in India will represent India as a global player in this realm and enhance India's global image and soft power.
Developing the event as an annual marquee event will help appropriate positioning in the sector.
The Ministry requested individuals and organisations that are keen on exploring collaborations, investments and market opportunities in India's dynamic media and entertainment sector to promote participation in WAVES.
