Cheques worth ₹19.5 lakh distributed to SHGs

Deputy commissioner and Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM), district mission director Pooja Elangbam on Monday distributed cheques to 13 Self Help Groups (SHGs) of Lamjing Meira Village Level Federation (VLFj, Kha Potshangbam, Bishnupur, district.
The Community Investment Fund, totalling Rs 19.5 lakh, was handed over in the presence of MSRLM district mission manager Angom Amarjit, and other officials of MSRLM.
While distributing the cheques, Pooja Elangbam emphasised the importance of financial independence, stating that a financially independent woman plays a key role in shaping the future of her family and society.
She also remarked that the empowerment of women through MSRLM is visible at the grassroots level and described it as a significant step towards building a better society.
Encouraging the women present to continue working diligently, she urged them to utilise the funds to generate more income.
Pooja Elangbam applauded the efforts of the SHGs that recently organised the first Rural Roots Market at Leimapokpam, noting that such initiatives make local products directly available to consumers, bridge the gap between producers and buyers, and allow purchases at reasonable rates.
The DC also assured all possible support from the district administration for the growth and development of SHGs in the district and commended the sincere work of MSRLM Bishnupur in strengthening the rural economy through women's participation.
