Imphal, June 28 2025:
Condemning the assault on a driver and a Tangkhul woman passenger by Kukis at Mongkot Chepu village along National Highway-202 (Imphal-Ukhrul road) on June 26, the Federation of Haomee (FoH) said that such attacks on Tangkhul community by Kukis are not something new.
In a release, FoH vice president Dr K Heera Kabui recounted the brutal assault on members of Tangkhul village authority by Kukis at Litan.
He said that most of the areas inhabited by Kukis were provided by Tangkhuls on humanitarian grounds.
Despite assault, destruction of vehicles and checking of vehicles by Kuki miscreants, Tangkhuls continue to forgive them.
Despite knowing that Meeteis have ceased travelling the Ukhrul road, frequent checks and harassment of Tangkhul passengers are an affront to the community, Heera Kabui noted.
Calling for accountability, he said that the culprits should face legal action beyond customary laws, and that FIRs should be filed to prevent such incidents in the future.
He also expressed the FoH's support for any movements initiated by the Katho Katamnao Long and the Tangkhul Naga Valley Students' Association.
