Woman among five arrested

Imphal, June 27 2025:
Police and central forces arrested at least five individuals including a woman from different parts of the state on Wednesday and Thursday in separate operations linked to militancy, extortion, illegal possession of arms, and vehicle theft, according to reports from the police control room.
On Thursday, police arrested one Md Helan (25) of Irong Chesaba Salam Achouba in Thoubal district from Mayang Imphal Bengoon Maning Makha near the Wednesday Market area under Mayang Imphal police station, Imphal West.
Authorities recovered a .32 pistol along with a magazine and four rounds of 7.65mm ammunition, a black leather holster, a dummy gun with fake magazine, a Redmi Note 13 5G phone with Jio SIM card, and a brown wallet containing an Aadhaar card.
Police said that Helan used the pistol and dummy gun to threaten local residents of Mayang Imphal Bengoon area.
In another operation the same day, security forces apprehended a 43-year-old woman cadre of the proscribed RPF/PLA, identified as Loukrakpam Premi Devi of Sayang Konthoujam Leikai, under Lamphel PS.
She was apprehended from Haobam Marak Ngangom Leikai under Singjamei PS.
According to officials, she had been issuing monetary demands and threats to government officials at Lamphel DC and to courier services in Imphal.
Two mobile handsets and an Aadhaar card were recovered from her grey side bag.
On the same day, another cadre of KCP (PWG) identified as Shandham Romen Singh alias Yambung (37) of Samurou Makha Leikai under Wangoi PS was arrested from his locality on the charge of issuing extortion demands and threats to the public.
Police seized a pistol without magazine, a mobile handset, and an Aadhaar card from his possession.
In a separate case of vehicle theft, police, with assistance from of the public, arrested one Aribam Momo alias Ithem (32) of Sangaiyumpham Pu,-leipokpi in Thoubal district, while he was attempting to lift a vehicle from Babu Bazar in Thoubal.
Police recovered an anti-lock jack, allegedly used to bypass the electronic self-starter mechanism of vehicles, and a Honda Activa 6G, matte marshal green in colour, previously stolen from Thoubal Haokha.
Meanwhile, on June 25, security forces apprehended one Thangjam Puremba Singh alias Thapanba (26), a cadre of PREPAK (PRO), from his residence at Khurai Thangjam Leikai under Porompat PS, Imphal East.
A mobile phone and an Aadhaar card were seized from him.
