Training on AI, data science begins at MU

A six day shortterm training programme on "Advances in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science" was inaugurated at the Court Hall of Manipur University (MU) on Thursday.
The programme is being organised by the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre, MU.
The inaugural function was attended by MU vice chancellor professor N Lokendro and Maliviya Mission director professor Rk Bhubon Singh as chief guest and president respectively, while UGC-NE NEP 2020 Implementing Committee member professor Irom Gambhir and Computer Science department head Dr Khumukcham Robindro were the guests of honour.
Speaking at the event, Professor Lokendro highlighted the growing significance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in every sphere of life.
"AI is a powerful tool that enables problem-solving with minimal effort.
In today's world, there is no held that is untouched by AI.
It plays a vital role in education, research, healthcare, management, and governance," he said.
The vice chancellor stressed the need for awareness and understanding of AI among academicians and professionals, stating that AI can help address various workplace challenges and also contribute towards achieving the goals of digital empowerment envisioned in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.Professor Lokendro also pointed out the role of AI in enhancing individual skills and called for its integration into academic planning at Manipur University and encouraged the young participants to make the most of the training programme.
