Rally decries murder of women, children

Thoubal, November 18 2024:
In denunciation of the abduction and killing of six women and children by armed Kuki militants in Jiribam, a torch rally was carried out in Salungpham area of Thoubal district on Sunday.
The rally organised by United Club Salungpham and Salungpham Apunba Meira Paibi from Ching Tam High School Ground, Salungpham covered different parts of village and ended with a public meeting at the starting point, where two minutes' silence was observed in honour of the victims.
Addressing those gathered, Apunba Meira Paibi president Thingbaijam Nganbiton Leima, condemned the central government's alleged support to armed Kuki militants and agenda to suppress the Meetei community.
She described the situation as deeply unfortunate and denounced it in the strongest possible terms: She said that the government's strategy would ultimately fail and urged the central government to comprehend this reality.
The protestors carried placards and shouted slogans such as "MLAs and Minister should resign immediately", "We condemn the attitude of the government of India", "We condemn killing of innocent women and children", "Punish the terrorists", etc.
