Bimola Institute holds drawing competition

Bimola Memorial Institute celebrated its first anniversary by organising a drawing competition at the community hall of Young Voluntary Organisation, Wangkhei Puja Lampak, on Sunday.
Modern College principal Prof N Romabati Devi attended the event as chief guest while founder chairman of the institute, Aribam Saratchandra Sharma was the functional president.
Founder secretary of the institute Aribam Palinchandra Sharma said that the competition was organised in memory of his late mother after whom the institute is named, adding that she believed education was the foundation of all-round development.
He said that the event aims to encourage children who lack opportunities to showcase their talents, while confiding that plans are on to host debate and essay competitions.
Over 200 students took part in the competition held in two categories.
For classes III to V, the theme was "Rathra Yatra", while classes VI to X drew on the theme "Recent Flood in Manipur and its Impact" .
In the junior category, Nongthombam Toniya Devi of SL Arena of Learning secured first place, followed by Kh Chandra Meitei and Kh Joy Meitei, both from Wangkhei High School in second and third position.
In the senior category, Lanngamba Ngangom of RM School won the first place, Sunaina Saikhom of Kendriya Vidyalaya took second, and Pukhrambam Rakesh Meitei of RM School secured third.
