Writer Rajendra conferred Dr Suresh literary award

Dr Thiyam Suresh Literary Award-2025 - the annual award constituted by the Patriotic Writers' Forum, Manipur for Manipuri writers - has been conferred on writer Moirangthem Rajendra Singh of Tentha Khunjao Mayai Leikai in recognition of his dedication and responsibility in promotion of Manipuri language, literature and society.
The award presented Monday at Manipur Press Club, includes memento, shawl and Rs 10,000 cash.
The award presentation function was attended by Babina Groups chairman & managing director Dr Thangjam Dhabali as chief guest, Patriotic Writers' Forum, Manipur president Naoroibam Khamba Luwang as president and former convener of Sahitya Akademi Manipuri Language Advisory Board Nongmaithem Kirankumar Singh as guest of honour.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Dhabali lauded the activities and efforts of Patriotic Writers' Forum to communicate and unite the Meeteis settling in Assam, Tripura, Bangladesh and Myanmar.
He said that late Dr Thiyam Suresh was director (health services) and wrote many critical articles after retirement and even produced two films namely, 'Eigi Punshi Mangla Taibangla' and 'Chingda Shatpi Ingelei' .
"He was also an eminent film personality and very fond of writing beyond health care service," Dr Dhabali recalled.
In his speech, Kirankumar said writer Moirangthem Rajendra truly deserves this year's Dr Thiyam Suresh Literary Award, stating that he (Rajendra) has published 56 books till the year 2024 with his write-ups covering different issues and topics.
Apart from writing books, Rajendra also promotes Manipuri language and culture and serving people by becoming donor for awards.
