Bishnupur, May 13 2025:
Former rebel leader RK Sanayaima has urged the people of the State to not overly indulge in merry making activities like concert, shumang leela, thabal chongba, or any other festivals when the State is burning due to the ethnic conflict in the State.
He said this while attending rituals of Ibudhou Thangjing at Phougakchou Ikhai under Kumbi AC held in connection with the 4th Foundation Day of Peace Committee Kangleipak, Manipur.
RK Sanayaima, who is also an advisor of the Peace Committee of Kangleipak, Manipur, said the committee has initiated processes to construct memorial sites for martyrs of the Manipur conflict at Maibam Lotpa Ching in Nambol.
The committee has also taken up an initiative to erect memorial stones for the 6 innocent civilians including children who were mercilessly killed by the Kuki militants in Jiribam, said Sanayaima.
He further stated that due to cessation of firing among the two communities for some time, people are now indulging in various merry making activities forgetting that many displaced peoples are still suffering at relief camps unable to return to their original homes.
Such "immature acts" of the people while many are suffering is indeed heartbreaking and very unfortunate, Sanayaima said.
The people must collectively work towards bringing a permanent solution to the conflict in the State.
President of the Peace Committee Manipur, Rajesh Meitei, ICHAM founder president, Nongthombam Rajendro and other members of the committee attended the event.
