RIMS observes World Skin Health Day

Department Of Dermatology, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, on Tuesday observed World Skin Health Day 2025 with an awareness programme and inauguration of diode laser-fitted Phototherapy Machine by director professor G Sunil Kumar Sharma.
The programme held at the RIMS OPD Block was also attended by Hospital's medical superintendent professor N Sanjib Singh as functional president, and Department of Dermatology head Dr Chitralekha Keisham and professor Th Nandakishore Singh as guests of honour.
Speaking as chief guest, director G Sunil informed that installation of the diode laser-fitted Phototherapy Machine makes RIMS the first government hospital in the northeast region to have such advanced technology.
Noting that people generally neglect proper care for the skin, which is the largest organ of the body, he reminded that skin health goes beyond cosmetic concerns, as it reflects deeper medical and social issues.
The director also elaborated on importance and utility of the newly installed phototherapy machine in facilitating affordable and effective treatment for chronic and cosmetic skin conditions.
Appealing all to maintain skin health by availing existing facilities at RIMS, he reaffirmed the medical institute's commitment to innovation and equitable healthcare access.
As a part of the programme, an awareness session was also conducted for patients and visitors, focusing on preventive skin care, sun protection, and the impact of environmental factors on skin health.
The programme was also attended by deputy director (admn), principals of RIMS Dental College and College of Nursing, HoDs, chief account officer cum financial advisor, facuIty members, nursing officials, staff and students.
