Lions Club extends flood relief to 1,800 people

Lions Club of Manipur Region has extended relief assistance to around 1,800 people affected by the recent floods and currently taking shelter in various relief camps across Imphal East.
In a statement issued by the International Association of Lions Clubs District 322D, the organisation said that it had carried out a large-scale humanitarian relief operation under its global theme 'We Serve'.
The relief drive focused on multiple flood-hit localities in Imphal East, where thousands of residents have been displaced due to the heavy rains and floods over the past week.
Relief materials were distributed to several relief camps, including Uchekon Yubaraj Palli, which currently houses around 400 flood victims.
Assistance was also extended to Bashikhong Meira Club camp with 200 people, Bashikhong Torban Community Hall with another 400, and Nongmeibung Eastern Students Club sheltering 250.Additional relief was provided to SYAC Club, Soibam Leikai where 400 people are staying, as well as camps at Kongpal Mutum Leikai and Kongpal Chanam Leikai housing 100 and 150 individuals respectively.
In total, the Lions Club provided 60 bags of rice, 20 bags of potatoes, 1,500 kilograms of salt, 1,800 bars of soap and supply of clean drinking water as part of its emergency response efforts.
The organisation said that the relief work was aimed at easing the suffering of those displaced by the disaster and reaffirmed its commitment to standing with the people of Manipur in times of crisis.
