Workshop on folk songs, musical instrument begins

A seven-day workshop cum documentation on 'Endangered Folk Songs and Musical Instruments of Manipur' jointly organised by Mirror of Whistles Stop (MOWS), Kakching and Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi under the Ministry of Culture began at Kakching Dramatic Union hall, on Sunday.
The opening function of the workshop was attended by IGNCA regional director S Ranbir as chief guest in the presence of MOWS president Mayanglambam Dorendro, secretary Kshetrimayum Meghachandra; AIR, Imphal folk song (Khunnung Eeshei) top grade artiste Irungbam Padmabati Devi, B Grade artistes Salam Roshni Devi and Maibam Shyama.
The workshop is being participated by around 100 boys and girls with I Padmabati, S Roshni and M Shyama as the instructors.
The workshop was also visited by MAHUD and IPR director Ngangom Uttam, Kakching Municipal Council caretaker chairperson Naorem Sanjitkumar, and Kakching Ward No 11 caretaker councillor Kshetrimayum Jhaljit to encourage the participants.
