BJP Jiribam Mandal president, others resign

Voicing remorse over the abated violence and expressing dissatisfaction over administrative ineffectiveness in restoring normalcy in the state, eight functionaries and primary members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jiribam Mandal, including its president tendered resignation with immediate effect.
Briefing the media at his Kalinagar residence, here, on Monday, Mandal president K Jadu Singh cited lack of effective governance and resolution of the ethnic crisis for their collective decision to step down.
In view of the evolving distressful situation the decision has been taken to relinquish the political positions in honour of the public sentiment and join the people's movement, he reasoned.
The president also condemned the abduction/ killing qf eight civilians in Borobekra area as well as gunning down of a student by a security officer despatched to the district to safeguard public life and properties.
Besides, Jadu, office bearers and executive members of the Mandal who quit the party included MK Badain (vice president), Mutum Hemanta Singh (general secretary), P Biramani Singh (general secretary/ organisation), and executive members Mutum Brojendro Singh, Th Meghajit Singh L Chaoba Singh and Arambam Aruna Devi.
