Ukhrul, December 14 2024:
Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) has officially stated that it does not recognise the so-called Indigenous People's Forum Manipur, condemning the organisation for its recent cultural event that it claimed misappropriates the name of the Naga people.
In a statement, TNL criticised the Manipur Indigenous People's Cultural Exchange Festival 2024, which was organised by the Forum under the leadership of one Wungnaoshang Kasar of Chadong village on December 13 and 14 at the village.
TNL described the event as an "act of impropriety", asserting that the Forum acted without the consent of the Naga community.
The apex body of the Tangkhul Nagas further indicated that it will impose necessary customary penalties, known as "Shongran", against those involved in the organisation of the festival.
