Awareness / sensitization programme against 'Child Marriage' held at Senapati

Senapati, May 13 2025: The District Administration, Senapati along with District Child Protection Unit, Senapati organised an awareness campaign against 'Child Marriage' cum sensitization programme for District Level Officers and Church Leaders at DC Conference Hall, Senapati today as part of Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat.

During the programme, the Deputy Commissioner of Senapati Mamoni Doley, IAS emphasized on the child marriage and its consequences on health and education issues.

She lauded the church leaders as no case of child marriage is seen in the district so far.

She further seeks support of church leaders and DLOs on the implementation of Child Marriage Act at their respective platforms.

Rang David Kung, ADM Senapati stated that the church next to schools plays a pivotal role in educating and disseminating to the congregation.

He also urged the church leaders to disseminate the message regarding the Child Marriage Act.

Lily Rangnamei, District Child Protection Unit, Senapati highlighted on the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006 to the participants.

She also appealed the church leaders to be careful while carrying the act of marriage ceremony and make Senapati district a Child Marriage Free District.

As part of the programme, Senapati DC Mamoni Doley also released posters reinforcing the message of Child Marriage and later issued to all the participants.

The programme was attended by Rang David Kung, MCS, ADM, Senapati, Pf Lophro, MCS, AC to DC, Senapati, DLO's, DCPU, Senapati office staff, Church Pastors and youth leaders.
