MU observes Plant Health Day

Imphal, May 12 2025: Manipur University, Department of Life Sciences (Botany) and Botanica Club observed the International Plant Health Day on Monday under the theme "The Importance of Plant Health in One's Health" .

As part of the event, a documentary film titled 'Flora of Manipur', produced by department head Prof Kananbala Sarangthem with Dr Ch Sanjita as the co-producer, was released.

Dr H Birkumar Singh of CSIR-NEIST, Lamphelpat, and Dr Sarangthem Indira Devi of BRIC-IBSD delivered lectures on the theme.

Awards were presented to winners of various competitions related to plant health held during Leihao�the Botanical Fest, 2025 .

The competitions included poster, painting, slogan writing, popular choice photography, best out of waste and 'rangoli' .

MU vice-chancellor Prof N Lokendra Singh and Prof Kananbala attended the event as chief guest and president respectively while MU School of Life Sciences dean Prof De-bananda Singh Ningthoujam, and head of Zoology department and registrar in-charge Prof Th Binoy Singh were guests of honour.

Faculty members from various departments of the university, MSc students, research scholars and college teachers also attended the programme.
