Underground cadre netted; arms recovered

Imphal, July 05 2025: Security forces arrested a cadre of Pambei-led UNLF on Friday and also recovered several arms and ammos during search operations conducted in different areas.

According to Manipur police control room, Manipur police arrested a cadre of Pambei-led UNLF identified as Heisnam Romeo Singh alias Shanker (38) of Laphupat Tera Hiyang Khongdai from Moi-rangkhom on Friday.

He was involved in extortion from private firms and offices.

A wallet, mobile phone and Rs 22,500 in cash were seized from him.

Meanwhile, security forces recovered one each of modified bolt action rifle, 9mm carbine submachine gun with magazine, No 36 HE hand grenade, helmet, three each of rifle magazine, Insas 5.56mm amnios and four IEDs from Chanbirok Ching area.

One local made rifle with magazine, five bolt cartridges, two 7.62mm rounds and eight tear smoke munition explosives were recovered from Chakmual Khul under Churachandpur police station on Friday.

Security forces also recovered one each of .303 rifle with magazine and without magazine, 9mm pistol No.36 hand grenade, AK-47 rifle bayonet, 9mm SMG carbine magazine, 303 LMG magazine 1, tear smoke shell, radio wireless set charger, 81 mortar shell, nine .303 ammunition, two 5.56X45mm ammunition, three MK-1 explosive, 12 9mm live ammunition, two detonators, two 303 ammunition charger clips and ten .303 live blank cartridges from foothills of Chingkhei Ching under Porompat police station.
