Discourse on foundation stages of NEP on May 10

Imphal, April 29 2024: Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) in collaboration with United Association of Recognised Schools of Manipur (UARSOM), All Manipur Recognised Private School Welfare Association (AMRPSWA), Private School Development Council (PSDC/Thoubal) and Bishnupur District Private School Association (BDPSA) would organise an academic discourse on the foundation stages of National Education Policy 2020, at JNM Dance Academy, here, on May 10.Briefing media persons in this regard, DESAM president M Somorjit Meitei said that the 5+3+3+4 system should be implemented as per NEP 2020 .

For this, the policy is paying special attention to the first five years (Foundational Stage).

In Manipur's context, there is no complete syllabus or curriculum for the said stage, and as such, preparation for the same must be done as soon as possible.

He pointed out that no training centres have been set up to train the teachers for this foundational stage while the government is yet to come up with regulations for introducing the foundational stage in schools.

As such, the academic discourse is to be organised considering the need for through discussion in this regard; he said and urged all intellectuals and interested individuals to attend the discourse positively.
