₹ 39 L drug money, ₹ 55 L liquor seized; 3 held

Imphal, July 28 2025:
In two separate operations, police seized a massive consignment of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth around Rs 55 lakh in Imphal East district, and recovered Rs 39.33 lakh in cash linked to a drug case in Churachandpur district.
Three individuals were arrested in the two operations.
According to a press release from Manipur Police Control Room, the seizure of IMFL took place on Saturday at Mantripukhri under Heingang police station, where two individuals were apprehended with 16,073 bottles of various types of IMFL liquor.
The arrested persons were identified as Thangjam Arbin Singh (28) of Sagolband Thangjam Leikai and Keisham Santa Meitei (40) of Kangsoibi Mapal in Bishnupur district.

The seized liquor is estimated to worth Rs 55 lakh in the black market.
In a separate case, police arrested one Thangmaljohn on July 22 from his residence in Enpum village under Suangdoh sub-division of Churachandpur district with one lakh WY tablets packed in 10 sealed packets marked "999" .
The arrest was made by a team led by Churachandpur SDPO and OC of Singngat PS.
A case has been registered under Section 22(C) of the ND&PS Act.
During a follow-up search of Thangmaljohn's residence, police recovered Rs 39.33 lakh in cash hidden inside a bag, suspected to be proceeds from the drug trade.
