AR conducts drone training programme

Imphal, July 24 2025:
In an effort to adopt modern technology and enhance the skills of the youth in Manipur, the Drone Training Node of Assam Rifles, in collaboration with IIIT Manipur, organised a five-day Drone Training Programme from July 19 to 23.According to a PRO IGAR (S) release, the initiative was aimed at strengthening technical expertise in drone technology for surveillance, disaster response, and border security operations, equipping participants with globally relevant skills for better employment prospects.
The training covered drone assembly, aerial mapping, real-time surveillance, maintenance, and data interpretation.
Experts included Dr Ravi Kumar Gangwar (HoD, Electronics), Dr Varun Chaudhary, Prof Jeevesh Kumar, Dr Kundan Kumar Suman, and AKS Raj (IIT Dhanbad).
Over 30 personnel from Assam Rifles and the Indian Army participated, with hands-on field exercises complementing theory sessions.
Certificates were awarded at the closing ceremony, where Dr Nagesh Ch (HoD, ECE) commended the organisers and participants for the programme's success, said the PRO .
