Kangpokpi, May 24 2023: Seeking Centre's immedi-ate intervention, thousands of Kuki protestors at Saparmeina village in Kangpokpi district reiterated not to propagate peace before a solution.

The sit -in protest held Wednesday at Saparmeina village in Kangpokpi district after similar protests at Kang-pokpi town and Keithelman-bi village sought immediate intervention of the Centre with a solution based on the political dialogue between the UPF and KNO and the government.

Sticking firm with the unanimous stance of the Kukis 'solution first, peace next', the protestors strongly urged the government and its machinery not to talk or initiate any peace process before any solution.

Braving the heavy show-er, the protesters including women and children lined up along the National Highway-2 and shouted 'We want central government intervention'.

On the sidelines of the pro-test organised by Committee on Tribals Unity, Sadar Hills, its spokesperson K Sitlhou told the media that chief min-ister N Biren has once again betrayed the confidence of the Kuki people after fresh violence erupted in the heart of the capital city few days after he admitted security and intelligence failure.

Slamming the Biren -led government, the COTU spokespersons said the Kukis lived peacefully without any tension with valley breth-ren for the many decades but Manipur witnessed one of the worst communal clashes under the Biren government.

He then sought the Centre's intervention for immediate action against N Biren Singh.

Meanwhile, the Committee expressed disappointment over a cabinet minister who reportedly called for an end to the economic blockade along the NH-2 .

Responding to the call of the minister, COTU secretary L Singsit said the people re-sorted to blocking the high-way since violence erupted on May 3 .

He continued that the mobs are beyond the control of the committee and any other organisations while appealing to the min-ister to come personally and convince the mobs for ending the blockade.

Expressing discontentment over the tribal minister's ap-peal for ending the blockade, the COTU secretary said the tribal minister's appeal or call further hurt the sentiment of tribal fellow as the call came when Kuki tribal are subju-gated at the maximum.
