Modular OT Complex, Nd YAG Laser Machine inaugurated at RIMS

The Department of Ophthalmology, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, today marked a significant advancement in eye care services with the inauguration of a state-of-the-art Modular Operation Theatre Complex and Nd YAG Laser Machine.
As per a release issued by RIMS, the new facility was officially inaugurated by Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director of RIMS, Imphal, in the presence of Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent of RIMS Hospital, Imphal.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof G Sunil Kumar expressed pride in inaugurating the Modular Operation Theatre Complex and installing the Nd: YAG laser at RIMS, calling it a significant milestone for the institution.
"As one of the first such setups in a Government facility, the Modular OT will enhance surgical precision, reduce patient wait times, and improve overall care standards", he added.
The Director also announced the upcoming launch of a dedicated Eye Bank and Corneal Transplantation Programme by July or August.
Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma thanked all those involved and hoped the achievement would inspire students and residents to strive for clinical excellence and innovation.
Prof N Sanjib Singh highlighted the importance of such advancements in improving patient outcomes and training opportunities for postgraduates and residents.
The event was attended by Deputy Director (Admn), Dean (Academics), HODs, Nursing Officer, faculty members, and staff of the Ophthalmology Department, who welcomed the addition of the new facilities as a major milestone in the department's service and academic excellence.
