Student bodies flay Govt over DMU fiasco

While expressing concern over the Dhanamanjuri University fiasco, student bodies have flayed the alleged indifference attitude of the government even though the aggrieved students of the varsity are on hunger strike protest.
In separate releases, Manipur Youth and Students' Union (MYSU) and All Manipur Muslim Students' Organisation (AMMSO) posed whether the government has no regard for the academic career of students.
Stating that development of a society depends on the quality of education system, they pointed out that the university, which is an important asset of the society, is in a dire situation.
In addition to the failure of conducting semester examinations, the examination results could hot be declared timely causing terrible inconveniences to students which may even hamper their careers.
Reminding that Dhanamanjuri University was established in 2017, they lamented that there has not been regular VC, registrar and controller of examination eVen after 7 years of establishment.
Considering the threat to their careers, students of the varsity have launched hunger strike.
However, the negligence and complete disregard to the protest of the students is akin to violating the rights of life of the student community.
While demanding authorities concerned to look into the matter and solve the crisis at the earliest, the two student bodies also said that they would extend all possible help to the student protestors.
Stating that Manipur Technical University, Manipur University of Culture also faced the same fate, MYSU urged the government to look into the matter and save the higher education system in the state.
It also cautioned of launching intense protest by joining hands with the people if the state government failed to fulfill their demand of saving the universities.
