Use of laser lights banned in Airport area

Imphal, June 12 2025:
As a part of the measures to prevent distraction of pilots and to ensure flight safety, the government has announced ban on the use of laser lights, including laser pointers and laser shows, within a 10 km radius of Imphal Airport with immediate effect.
The decision to enforce the ban was reportedly taken in a recent meeting of the Airfield Environment Management Committee of Imphal International Airport.
Any person or organisation if found not complying with the aforementioned ban, shall be subjected to fines and legal actions under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, the Aircraft Rules 1937 and the Airport Authority of India Act, 1994, sources cautioned.
