Imphal, July 03 2025:
Hijam Kulajit, father of missing student Luwangbi Linthoingambi Hijam, has appealed to the people of the state to come together and demand justice for his daughter who disappeared two years ago - along with her friend Hemanjit.
He urged the public to join a memorial service and public meeting to be held on July 6 at his Sagolband Tera Tongbram Leikai residence, marking the second anniversary of their disappearance.
Linthoingambi and Hemanjit went missing on July 6, 2023, and their last known mobile phone location was traced near Joujangtek village in Churachandpur district.
In the days following their disappearance, photographs of the two students, apparently held in captivity and appearing frightened, went viral on social media.
The photographs sparked widespread outrage and demands for justice, but no breakthrough has been made in the case.
Speaking to reporters at his residence on Thursday, Kulajit expressed deep frustration over the authorities' failure to provide any information about the fate or whereabouts of the two students, despite the arrest of some suspects.
He said that the families have been left in despair for two years without a single clue, and continue to suffer in the absence of closure.
He said that the 2nd anniversary memorial service on July 6 would be an occasion not only to remember his daughter and her friend but also to unite the public in demanding justice.
He appealed to the people of the state to attend the service and adopt a collective resolution to continue pressing for the truth.
Kulajit lamented that the lack of information has prevented the families from performing the last rites, leaving them in a painful state of uncertainty.
Describing the situation as deeply unfortunate, he urged the public to once again come forward and do something to ensure justice for his daughter.
