Imphal, May 28 2025:
Committee on Protection of Indigenous People's Ancestral Land (COPIPAL), Tamenglong, which was formed during the people's consultative meeting convened by Joint Tribe Council (JTC) on May 14 at Konsaram village, has condemned the unprovoked and orchestrated attack on the Konsaram Naga, which took place on April 5 .
In a press statement issued on Wednesday, COPIPAL Media Cell contended that the April 5 of aggression, carried out without justification, represents a direct affront to the dignity, safety, and rights of the indigenous Naga people.
As a mark of protest and step towards safeguarding their ancestral land and people, for lasting peace, COPIPAL announced a complete ban on movement of Kukis in all the territories of the joint tribes: Inpui, Liangmai, Rongmei and Zeme of Manipur, with effect from June 2."This decision, though taken with great restraint, is necessitated by the gravity of the situation and will remain in force until the issue is resolved amicably and satisfactorily through dialogue and mutual understanding under the auspices of COPIPAL," specified the Media Cell.
It also appealed to all stakeholders and communities to respect the decision and work towards a peaceful resolution that upholds the rights, identity, and security of the indigenous Naga people.
