AR, CRPF seize liquor worth Rs 1 cr

Imphal, July 24 2025: In a coordinated and intelligence-led operation, troops of the Assam Rifles along with QAT of B/143 Battalion CRPF intercepted a major consignment of illegal liquor estimated to worth Rs 1 crore near the Awangkhul village along the National Highway-37 on Tuesday.

In a release, 143 Battalion CRPF commandant Ravinder Sharma informed that the joint team recovered a total of 1,429 cases, containing more than 32,000 bottles and cans of various liquor brands.

Two individuals involved in transporting the illicit consignment were apprehended on the spot and handed over to the Noney police along with the seized contrabands for further investigation and legal proceedings.

The recovery highlights the strong coordination, synergy and vigilance of the Assam Rifles and CRPF in tackling smuggling and illegal trade, said the commandant, while affirming that the forces remain steadfast in their mission to uphold law and order and safeguard the region from unlawful activities.
