Imphal, July 17 2025:
Foothills Naga Co-Ordination Committee (FNCC), Manipur has written to the NSCN/GPRN for immediate intervention against the unlawful German/Tiger road initiative and infringement on Naga ancestral territories.
In a memorandum submitted to NSCN/GPRN 'ato kilonser' on Wednesday, FNCC secretary B Robin Kabui informed NSCN/GPRN that they would enforce an indefinite road blockade and general strike in the foothills region of Naga-in-habited areas, effective midnight of Friday, due to the continued presence of illegal immigrants and Kuki refugees in Naga ancestral lands.
The memorandum raised concerns on the proposed German/ Tiger road project which is advancing through areas historically inhabited and traditionally owned by the Rongmei, Liangmai, Chiru and Inpui Naga tribes without requisite consultation or consent and the establishment of a substantial Suspension of Operation (SoO) camps and clandestine settlement of foreign nationals from Myanmar posing a grave threat to Naga safety, cultural heritage and legal prerogatives.
"We respectfully implore your office to undertake urgent mea sures to immediately suspend all construction activities pertaining to these projects.
Prevent unauthorised encampments or settlements on our ancestral lands.
Ensure reverence for land ownership and traditional rights of the indigenous Naga communities".
"We repose our trust in the sagacity and equity of your office to uphold constitutional values and safeguard the rights and dignity of Naga communities.
Expedient intervention will forestall further unrest and ensure enduring peace in the region," it said.
