Imphal, December 16 2025: 143 Bn CRPF organised a wreath laying ceremony today at Sardar Patel High School, Khurkhul to pay homage to martyr CT/GD H Punshi Singh who gave supreme sacrifice in the service of Nation while fighting militants.

On December 16, 1997, the troops of 50 Bn, CRPF were were ambushed by militants with heavy firing.

Though the troops were in disadvantageous positions, they immediately retaliated the attack of militants with admirable bravery and forced them to flee from their well-entrenched positions.

However, due to grievous injuries, CT/GD H Punshi Singh and five other members of the Force attained martyrdom.

The ceremony attended by H Leiren Singh, brother of the martyr along with his family members, Sardar Patel High School teachers, students, villagers and other eminent figures of the locality.

Bhagad Singh, Dy Comdt and CSS Kushwaha, Dy Comdt and other ranks of 143 Bn CRPF paid floral tributes and homage to the martyr.
