Imphal, May 13 2025:
A nine-day summer camp for students of Heritage Convent School began today at its campus located at Haorang Sabal under Imphal West district.
Around 700 students participating in the camp will be divided into Wangbrel, Koubru, Thangjing and Marjing "panas" and compete in many indoor and outdoor sports and cultural events.
The summer camp was kicked off with a torch rally followed by the hoisting of the school flag and a pledge taking ceremony by the students of the four "panas" .
Speaking in this connection, Thounaojam Ibungomacha, Coordinator of Heritage Convent, said that the camp was conducted for the first time in May of 2024 and secondly during winter vacation last year.
The ongoing third installation of the summer camp aims to familiarize students with different sports and cultural activities.
As education alone cannot create a well-rounded person, the camp will infuse the students with mental and physical encouragement as well as introduce them to cultural art forms, said Thounaojam Ibungomacha.
He added that parents also fielded suggestions to the school authority to organise some activities for the students to prevent them from becoming addicted to mobile phones during their vacations.
The camps were thus hosted with this suggestion in mind, he maintained.
The summer camp will conclude on May 21 .
