Internet ban to be lifted today

Imphal, June 12 2025: The state government has announced the revocation of the temporary suspension of internet services in five districts namely Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Kakching and Bishnupur, effective from 6 am on Friday.

The ban, imposed on June 7, had included mobile data services, broadband, VSATs, and VPN services.

The measure was taken as a precautionary step to maintain law and order in the state.

In its latest order, the government cited overall improvement in the security situation and acknowledged the inconvenience caused to the public during the suspension period.

It has now decided to lift all restrictions on internet and mobile data services in the affected districts.

The government has, however, urged all internet users to exercise restraint online and avoid any activities that might lead to further disruptions.
