Imphal, August 05 2025:
Manipur PACS Federation publicity secretary Konthoujam Manihar has stated that a state can realise its full development potential only when its cooperative sector is strengthened and fully developed.
He made the remark at a felicitation programme held in honour of Jeena Pot-shangbam on latter's recent appointment as a member of the Governing Board of Cooperative University, the first of its kind in India.
The function organised by Manipur PACS Federation was held at GM Hall with Cooperative Societies registrar Waikhom Ibohal, Manipur PACS Federation president Oinam Rajkumar, Fisheries director T Phulen Meitei, Horticulture & Soil Conservation director K Debadutta Sharma, Manipur State Cooperative Union president Longjam Tompishak, Manipur State Cooperative Bank Limited president Pangambam Ranjit, Institute of Cooperative Management, Imphal director Khoichung Rangamlian Aimol and Manipur State Cooperative Bank Limited vice president Yumnam Subhachandra as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Manihar termed as a matter of pride for Manipur that Jeena has been selected as one of the four-members of the Governing Board of country's first Cooperative University.
He expressed hope that Jeena's appointment would help give fresh momentum to the cooperative movement in the State and contribute significantly to its overall development.
However, Manihar cautioned that the growth of cooperative societies alone will not be sufficient to develop the sector fully, and stressed the need for active involvement and coordination among related line departments such as Fisheries, Horticulture, Veterinary and others.
Highlighting the importance of inter-departmental collaboration, the secretary said the felicitation programme was also organised as a platform to engage top officials from various line departments and encourage a more integrated approach towards cooperative development in the state.
