Imphal, April 29 2024:
An extension talk on the topic "Happiness: An Achievable Goal in Life" jointly organised by Government Hindi Teachers' Training College and Council of Education Administration and Management (CEAM), was held at the Training College multipurpose hall, DM University campus, here, on Monday.
RIMS Psychiatric Department former head Dr RK Lenin, who was present as resource person, explained about methods for pursuing happiness and discussing the factors contributing to sense of contentment to the congregation.
He stated that every individual yearns for happiness and endeavours to pursue it.
Nonetheless, happiness often eludes us despite efforts made, which is natural.
Thus, it is essential for all to have sense of contentment, adapt our lifestyles and demonstrate generosity and empathy towards others.
This approach serves as one of the avenues to achieve happiness.
While stating that perception of happiness is subjective, varying from one individual to another, and can evolve over time, Dr Lenin stressed that finding contentment in life is a significant pathway towards happiness.
However, in today's cut-throat competitive environment, mere contentment may not give way to progress.
Therefore, careful and persistent effort to work is necessary.
Furthermore, individual happiness is not solitary.
There is the need to follow the concept of "Sharing is Caring" which is pivotal in cultivating happiness collectively.
Moreover, adapting our lifestyles is essential in the pursuit for happiness, he elaborated.
Government Hindi Training Teachers' Training College principal Prof Thokchom Asha Sinha, who was also present at the event, said that while pursuing for a better life we are neck deep in competition and tend to forget to live happily at the moment.
The present crisis in the state has also led people to live a devastated life, rued the principal.
It has been discovered that both teachers and students are experiencing stress during this time of the crisis, potentially impacting the teachers' ability to teach effectively and the students' capacity to comprehend what is being taught.
Therefore, the extension talk has been organised with the aim of fostering happiness among the students and teachers so as to enable them to fulfil their responsibilities more efficiently, stated Asha Sinha.
Meanwhile, The teaching and non-teaching staff of the college distributed essential items to the residents of Senior Citizens' Home, Kongba and Old Age Home, Langol as part of its community extension programme.
