LNC-M condemns case against Ashang Kasar

Imphal, May 28 2025: Liangmai Naga Council, Manipur (LNC-M) has strongly condemned the baseless and defamatory complaint lodged by the so-called Sangaikot Sub-Division Defence Committee (SSDDC) of Churachandpur on May 22, which falsely accuses Ashang Kasar, a well-respected social activist and the president of the Indigenous People's Forum, Manipur, of making a provocative statement on the social media platform X, using the account handle @Ashang_Kasar.

In a release, LNC-M vice president CH Wisobou claimed that the said account is a fake profile created by miscreants with malicious intent to tarnish the reputation of Ashang Kasar and incite communal tension.

"No such post or statement has been made by him, and the accusations are entirely fabricated and without value," it clarified.

LNC-M also stated that it is both disturbing and unacceptable that an unrecognised and self-styled body like SSDDC is making such serious allegations without verification.

Questioning the legitimacy of the so-called committee and the authority under which it operates, the Liangmai body alleged that such an action appears to be a deliberate attempt to mislead the public, spread false propaganda, and create further division in the already fragile socio-political landscape of Manipur.

"We urge the Government of Manipur to be vigilant and investigate the origins of such malicious content.

We call upon authorities concerned to initiate legal proceedings against those involved in creating and spreading falsehoods through fake social media accounts.

It is imperative that strong action be taken to deter such irresponsible and divisive behaviour, " it stated.

LNC-M further reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to peace, justice and harmony, while urging all the indigenous communities of Manipur to remain united, rise above division and stand together in the pursuit of truth.
