VDF association threatens uniform protest over sanction delays

Imphal, March 28 2026: The AU Manipur VDF Employee Welfare Association has announced that its members across 16 districts will launch a protest by refusing to wear uniforms starting April 1 if the funds for new uniforms are not sanctioned by the March 31 deadline.

Addressing a press conference today at Manipur Press Club, association president Sagolshem Sanjit highlighted that VDF personnel have not received new uniforms for approximately four years, leading to the current poor condition of their attire.

The required funds for this year have been delayed by higher authorities and are currently pending with the Finance Department for a prolonged period, he claimed.

He asserted that the association has appealed to the Government and concerned officials multiple times to expedite the sanctioning process.

Sanjit urged the Government to look into the matter and release the funds before March 31, failing which the uniform-less protest will commence on April 1 .
