Symposium on Queen Kuranganayanee highlights shared Assam-Manipur heritage

A one-day symposium on the theme "Kuranganayanee andher significance in Manipuri Society in Assam" washeldtodayatHotelKalpana,Ulubari in Guwahati.
The symposium was jointly organised by the Sahitya Academy, New Delhi, and Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Assam, Kamrup District Committee.
According to a release issued by the Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Assam, Kamrup District Committee, the symposium aimed to spread awareness about the shared historical ties, traditions and cultural heritage between Assam and Manipur.
The programme also sought to educate the present and upcoming generation about the historical significance of Rajkumar Kuranganayanee of Manipur, who became the queen of the Ahom kingdom over 260 years ago.
The symposium hosted by Maisnam Bhagat, was attended by members of the parishad and participants from different parts of Assam.
Speakers at the event highlighted the historical contributions of Queen Kuranganayanee and underscored the need to preserve the rich cultural and historical connections shared by the two neighbouring states.
