Governor AK Bhalla visits Kangpokpi, Senapati

Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla visited Kangpokpi and Senapati districts on Saturday and inaugurated two Information Technology (IT) centres in both the districts.
The Governor also reviewed overall progress of development schemes in the two districts.
In Kangpokpi district, the Governor visited Presidency college, Motbung and inaugurated an IT centre in the college campus.
The IT centre was developed with the funding of Ministry of Home Affairs.
The Governor also interacted with college students and later went to Kangpokpi district headquarters where he chaired a review meeting with DC, SP and other District Level Officers (DLOs) .

AK Bhalla enquired about the implementation of different schemes like, Jal Jeevan Mission, projects under New Development Bank (NDB), healthcare, education.
Under Nikshay Mitra, the Governor adopted five TB patients and distributed fruit baskets.
The Governor also enquired about progress of the ongoing national highway development projects with the NHIDCL officials.
Later, Governor AK Bhalla visited Senapati district headquarters and inaugurated an IT centre in DC office complex.
He also reviewed law and order situation in the district with DC, SP and DLOs.
In both the districts, Governor interacted with representatives of CSOs and heard their grievances.
They also submitted memoranda to the Governor.
Later in the afternoon, the Governor witnessed the final of 4th Lt Col (L) Robert TA Memorial Open Football Tournament at Astro Turf ground, Senapati.
Our Kpi correspondent adds: Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla was accorded a warm welcome by Kuki Zo community upon his arrival at Motbung Model village.
Later, the Governor proceeded to DC office and met key leaders of Kuki-Zo CSOs including the Kuki-Zo Council (KZC), Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills and Thadou Inpi.
In the presence of district officials, including the SP Kangpokpi, these organisations submitted memoranda outlining their pressing demands and concerns.
In its memorandum, the Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) highlighted the dire humanitarian crisis and unresolved political issues affecting the community.
The memorandum underscored the devastating impact of the 22-month-long ethnic conflict citing loss of lives, destruction of homes and churches, and mass displacement.
The KZC leaders urged the Governor to take swift action especially in the absence of a political resolution regarding their demand for a separate administration under a Union Territory with a legislature.
The memorandum also detailed district-wise challenges in Chandel, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, Pherzawl, Jiribam, and Tengnoupal and called for urgent intervention.
Meanwhile, the Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills (KISH) also submitted a memorandum to Governor urging for immediate intervention on key issues affecting the Kuki-Zo community in the wake of the ongoing ethnic conflict.
The memorandum highlighted four critical demands including urgent resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), direct access to Central government funding for Kuki-Zo inhabited hill areas, expediting of political talks for Separate Administration and activation of approved helicopter service in Kuki-Zo areas.
