Imphal, July 21 2025: Angom Anita Devi from Manipur has been selected for the prestigious National Handloom Award (Exclusively for Women) under the KDC category for 2024 in recognition of her exceptional skill in weaving traditional silk Inaphee designs "Namthang Khulhat and Kanchipuba" .

The ministry of textiles announced the list of awardees as part of the National Handloom Development Programme (NHDP), under the Handloom Marketing Assistance (HMA) component.

The awards will be conferred by the President of India during the 11th National Handloom Day celebration at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi on August 7, 2025 .

The event will be attended by union minister of textiles Giriraj Singh along with MPs, industry leaders, designers, exporters, senior officials, students, and over 500 weavers from across the country.

A total of 24 awardees, including five Sant Kabir Handloom Awards and 19 National Handloom Awards, will be honoured this year for their contributions to the handloom sector.

The awards aim to celebrate excellence in handloom craftsmanship, innovation, and the preservation of traditional weaving practices.

The National Handloom Award includes cash prize of Rs 2 lakh, Tamrapatra, shawl, and certificate.
