Imphal, June 21 2024:
The absence of chief minister N Biren at the high-level security meeting regarding Manipur chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah has raised question whether the chief minister has been 'unofficially' removed from office, remarked Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) legal department vice chairman advocate Rabi Khan.
Addressing media persons at Congress Bhawan, here, on Friday, Rabi Khan said that despite being the executive head of the state, chief minister N Biren was not invited for the high-level meeting convened to review the security situation in Manipur, consequently creating confusion among the people of Manipur.
While questioning existence of the state government, he enquired how a crucial meeting concerning the state could take place without the presence of the state s chief minister, who serves as its administrative head.
Rather than demonstrating the government's presence to the public, it is regrettable that a BJP minister is causing confusion by commenting on the issues concerning the CM as executive head of the government.
The leaders of the government should refrain from misleading the people and disregarding the constitution, Rabi Khan said.
